Recording of RITA-Winning BLACKOUT Is A Go!
I'll be in NYC the first week of June to sit in on the recording sessions with premier audio book company Recorded Books. How exciting is that? The reader, Carol Monda, has done books by Lisa Jackson, Carla Neggers, Elizabeth Lowell, Susan Isaacs, and won last year's Audie Award for her work on an Anna Quinlan book. To say I'm thrilled is an understatement. And I finally got a camera, so hope to post pics of the session. I've produced tons of radio commercials and broadcast voiceovers in my former life in advertising, so I know how down and dirty a recording studio can be, but I can't help getting excited about seeing this one and watching (hearing!) my book come to life. Check back over the summer for my impressions.
More Book News I've heard from many of you asking about my next book. Well, I'm happy to report it's on the way. You'll have to wait until next year to see it on the shelves, but it's turned in and working its way through the production process. I'll keep you posted on title, cover, etc. as soon as I hear about them. And watch for exclusive previews and excerpts. The book is inspired by an interesting legend, which I'll share with you down the line.
DEAD SHOT My latest romantic suspensecheck out an excerpt now!
They say she has a death wish.
Now, someone wants to grant it.
Critics call them provocative. Protestors call them obscene. But photographer Gillian Gray aims her macabre self-portraits at an audience of onethe faceless brute who murdered her mother. Their meaning is clear: "Come and get me."
And someone’s getting the message. Dead bodies start turning up, posed to mimic Gillian’s photos. Against her will, Gillian is guarded by tough ex-cop Ray Pearce, a man whose commitment to the job is as strong as his belief that Gillian’s in real danger. Yet his protection may not be enough to stop a vicious madman from creating his next masterpiece: a portrait of the artist as a young corpse.

BLACKOUT WINS RITA!
My 2006 romanctic suspense, Blackout, was awarded the RITA, romance fiction's highest award of achievement. The award, judged by my fellow published writers, was presented in July 2007 by Romance Writers of America at their national conference. I was stunned, thrilled, shocked and delighted all at once. And I couldn't stop smiling (an unusual state for me...).
Here I am, minutes after winning. |
I had lots of friends taking lots of pictures, so I hope to add others soon. Check back to see more. There's also more about the award in my most recent newsletter.
And don't forget to check out the other finalists and winnersgreat writers and great reads all.
